I have been in workforce development for years. I’ve supported over 1,000 veterans, minorities, and women with work experience in tech where these individuals got their first or better jobs. Climbing is harder to get into than tech (at least for me). I’m not the right age, gender, weight, and demeanor for this sport. This experience of gatekeepers and rejection has been a phenomenal gift in that I finally have experienced what it is like to have biases block me from goals. This has caused me to become very determined to open climbing up to underserved communities. I am always asking people and organizations with support in the form of gear and other resources.
